Sporting Type
Jewelry designer Shannon Saint Clair moves in two surprising worlds: that of artistic accessory design…and that of football?! The latter is thanks to her husband John, a former player for the St. Louis Rams. As such, Saint Clair has created designs for pro football and basketball players as well as a host of other celebrities — from reality TV stars to recording artists. Her work makes stunning use of semi-precious gemstones from quartz and agate to coral and opal; ShannonSaintClair.com.

Double-Edged
Jewelry designer Nina Cortes believes opposites truly do attract, which is why she’s inspired to create pieces that incorporate and contrast both masculine and feminine elements. The strength of her work has already earned her a spot as a finalist on the Project Runway spin-off, Project Accessory, where she crafted not only jewelry but stunning shoes and handbags. Her new line, Nina Cortes Jewelry, will feature a wide range of pieces, including some in unconventional but stunning styles, combining both feminine and darkly mysterious elements; NinaCortesJewelry.com.

Structural Influence
Dos Puntos Accessories Owner/Designer Ale AP didn’t start out working in jewelry. The Miami-based designer first went to school for architecture, but changed course as a lifelong love for fabulous accessorizing inspired her to start creating her own jewelry. Interest in her work quickly exploded, from envious friends to calls to accessorize for photoshoots and create custom work for fashion shows. With Dos Puntos Accessories, she is now able to continue to develop her signature style which uses unexpected combinations such as pearls with leather and to create some truly unique looks; DosPuntosAcc.com.

Dipping Skinny
Wondering what looks will be heating up the beach this season? You don’t need to guess — we’ve pinpointed some of the latest trends from the world’s top swimwear shows. Forget blah black and safe neutrals — this spring and summer, it’s going to be all about big and bold when it comes to color. We’ll also be seeing some surprise resurrections, modern and hot takes on long-neglected style elements. Think tasteful incorporation of animal prints in innovative cuts with bold colorblock accompaniments, or — dare we say it — ruffles! They’ve long been relegated to the little girls’ department or as skirted accents on one-pieces for those hoping to hide a less-than-perfect derriere, but this year’s takes are flirty, feminine and alluring. Another retro theme we’ll see making a further comeback are pinup-inspired styles in full-coverage one-pieces or high-waist bikinis. But today’s takes will also incorporate structural elements that help emphasize those Monroe-esque assets, making these pieces an even more perfectly sexy fit. For those who’d rather look to the future than the past, many of the season’s most contemporary-looking suits will be drawing their influences from a different world entirely: The lingerie department. Think sexily structured blacks and metallic in cuts that leave just enough to the imagination. When considering which of these wildly varying trends to go for, keep in mind what looks will suit your figure and activity level. The most flattering suit is always the one with the right fit!
