Comfort Zone

Center console boats are great for a day on the water, until you need to use the facilities or want to get out of the heat. A better design is the walkaround, which adds a cabin.

Center console boats dominate South Florida waterways, but on blazing hot days you can’t get out of the heat, and while many are equipped with a compact head (bathroom) tucked under the console, using one while the boat is underway is most similar to riding a rodeo bull in a tiny linen closet. The folks at Essai Canados have the solution. The Essai Canados Gladiator 431 WA was designed for all day, or even overnight, cruising comfort. The helm area is protected from the elements by an oversized T-Top, with seating areas for guests in the cockpit adjacent to the open-air galley. The “WA” stands for the walkaround deck which provides easy access to the forward seating area. The cabin features a galley, a full-sized head with shower and a double bed. With the A/C at full blast, this will be the most popular place on the boat on hot summer days. Powered by twin 44-hp Volvo Penta D6 turbodiesels, the Gladiator 431 can cruise at 35 knots all day long, making it ideal for fast getaways to Bimini or the Keys; Canados.com
