Fun Day(s)

No one’s quite sure exactly how Sunday Funday came about or pinpoint the first time someone said it, but we can all agree it’s here to stay.

But why limit all the fun to just one day? Well, for starters, Sunday and Funday are a rhyme-match made in heaven. Sunday is also the last opportunity to squeeze out one last hurrah before jumping back into the daily grind of the workweek. It really is a nice distraction from the inevitable case of The Mondays you’re gonna deal with the next day. But sometimes Sundays get busy with pending to-do lists, unexpected burdens and unplanned emergencies. Putting so much weight on one day is a set-up for disappointment. So instead of committing to an extended good time on Sunday Funday, try spreading out the excitement throughout the week. Wednesday Funday isn’t as catchy, but Whoa Wednesdays sounds cool. So does Tipsy Thursdays. Or Travel Tuesdays. Munch Mondays, anyone? How about Secret Saturdays? They all sound pretty good to me — and best yet, they’re all open for interpretation. So go ahead, jot down some ideas for next week and put all those alliteration skills you learned in school to good use. I guarantee you’ll have a great time. JORGE ARAUZ, EDITOR-IN-CHIEF.
