The Leadership

Beginning his 23rd year with Miami Open presented by Itaú and his 13th at the helm of Miami Open as Executive VP, Adam Barrett’s leadership has helped transform the organization and redefine its corporate identity into a customer service and sales driven company that holds an elite spot in the entertainment world.
Under Barrett’s direction, Miami Open has been recognized as a leader in fan entertainment, customer service, sales and marketing globally. Exceeding guest expectations and creating an exciting experience is the cornerstone of the company values which have been instilled through Barrett’s tenure.
Barrett’s primary responsibility consists of directing and overseeing all aspects of the organization from Finance, Merchandising, Human Resources, Community Affairs, Travel, Marketing, Sales and Player Services. His efforts have created an atmosphere for both the employees and customers that is loyal, professional and personal
Barrett also shows his commitment to South Florida as he continually works successfully with Miami-Dade County public officials to keep Miami Open in Miami and a leader in the sport of tennis. The result of his diligence is an innovative public-private partnership at the International Tennis Center of Crandon Park which fans enjoy year round and the home of Miami Open.
Most recently, Barrett established a social media platform to capitalize on the popularity of this medium that motivates and activates fans directly. Facebook, Twitter, 4 Square and the first Mobile Application for the tournament have increased the fan base tenfold and customer loyalty has been catapulted to its highest level since the inception of the event in 1985.
Barrett steadily climbed the ranks after first joining Miami Open in 1991 as Finance Director and duly named Tournament director and Executive Vice President in 2002. He is actively involved in the both men’s and women’s tour boards and a member of many organizations that promote the sport of tennis globally.
Barrett is a graduate of University of Florida. He lives in Weston with his wife, Rachel and their children Matthew, Zoe and Chase. They generously spend their time and resources to assist the community, donating time to several charitable organizations.

History
With over $10 million in prize money, the Miami Open presented by Itaú is one of the largest tournaments in the world. When Butch Buchholz established the event in 1985, it marked the first time in 56 years that a new two-week tournament featuring men and women was launched. Located in Delray Beach (Laver’s International Tennis Center) in 1985 and Boca Raton (Boca West) in 1986, the tournament found a permanent home in 1987 on Miami’s Key Biscayne. In 1994, Miami-Dade County christened the Tennis Center at Crandon Park, a 30-acre expanse that is transformed each year from a public tennis facility into a full-fledged festival for the Miami Open. The Miami Open, considered one of the most prestigious titles in professional tennis, has been awarded “Tournament of the Year” by the ATP in nine of the last 13 years. In 2004, the event was also named “Tournament of the Year” by the WTA. In 1999, the tournament was purchased by IMG. The 2014 tournament surpassed 300,000 in total attendance for the fifth consecutive year, all the while displaying to the world why the event is regarded as the most glamorous on the WTA and ATP World Tours.

Nov. 1990: Miami-Dade County approves plans for a new stadium.
Summer 1992: The site is rechristened The Tennis Center at Crandon Park.
Nov. 1992: After legal delays and Hurricane Andrew halt construction, plans progress.
Feb. 1994: Miami-Dade Country dedicats the new 14,000-seat stadium

Present: Following the 2014 event, the tournament underwent a sponsor change. Itaú, the largest privately owned bank in Latin America, became the presenting sponsor of the event and the tournament, formerly the Sony Open, changed its name to the Miami Open presented by Itaú.

Collectors Club
At the Collectors Club Restaurant, presented by FENDI Château Residences, guests are treated to a fine dining experience with tableside service and a comfortable lounge. The bounty of several Southern Florida farms and producers is incorporated into the menus, which include a range of small plates, sushi, sandwiches, entrees, sides, and desserts. The lounge menu is offered until late.

Champions Club
An ideal spot for a meal between and after matches. The station options include fresh and local ingredients. Explore the pasta station, farm stand salads, the grill, sandwiches, wok creations, soups, and dessert. Relax at the bar while watching all the action on plasma screens.

Patrons Lounge

The Parking

Parking at Crandon Park
Please make note of the following policies as you make plans to attend the Miami Open:
• Parking lots close two hours after the completion of the last match. No overnight parking is allowed.
• Taxi service: Located at the entrance to Lot 3, which is located directly across from the Main Gate entrance to the site.
• Bicycle racks: Located in Lot 4, which is across from the Main Gate entrance to the site and are complimentary.
• Will Call or guest pick-up/drop-off: Lot 6 – located just prior to the Main Gate entrance to the site.
• Brickell Metro-Rail Service: Please utilize the bus stand, located at the Main Gate entrance for Metro-Rail services.
General Parking
Located directly across the street from the Miami Seaquarium. Look for signs along Crandon Boulevard to direct you to the General Parking area. Once you arrive, you will then board shuttles that will transport you across the street from the Main Gate entrance. Please allow at least an additional 30 minutes to your travel time for your arrival on-site. Shuttles will run continuously throughout the day and up to an hour after the last evening session match has been completed. The parking lots close two hours after the completion of the last match. No overnight parking is allowed. Cannot be purchased in advance.
Cost: $12 per vehicle
ADA Parking
Located in Crandon Lot 2. Look for signs along Crandon Boulevard to direct you to the ADA Parking area. ADA shuttle service will be available to transport guests across the street to the South Gate entrance near Gate H. Please note a valid handicap pass along with driver’s license must be presented to the parking attendant upon entering Crandon Lot 2. The parking lots close two hours after the completion of the last match and no overnight parking is allowed.

Boxholder Parking
Located in Crandon Lot 3. Look for signs along Crandon Boulevard to direct you your assigned parking area. Twenty-four individual parking passes (one per each session) will be provided to you. Boxholders have the opportunity to purchase one Crandon Lot 3 pass for every two boxseats purchased. To purchase, please contact the Miami Open Ticket Office at 305.442.3367.
Cost: $240 per booklet
Championship Series Package Parking
Located in Crandon Lot 2. Look for signs along Crandon Boulevard to direct you your assigned parking area. Twenty-four individual parking passes (one per each session) will be provided to you. Championship Series Package holders have the opportunity to purchase one Crandon Lot 2 pass for every two Series Packages purchased. To purchase, please contact the Miami Open Ticket Office at 305.442.3367.

400 Level Package Parking
Guests who purchase a Final Four or After Hours package are provided the opportunity to purchase parking passes for the four sessions included in their package in Crandon Lot 2. Note: This package parking option is not offered to Opening Weekend Classic or Flex ticket holders due to parking space limitations on Friday-Sunday, March 21-23. Charter Buses
Should follow Tournament signage to Crandon Lot 3. This is the location where guests will depart/load from their bus during their visit to Miami Open Tennis. Guests are within walking distance of the Main Gate entrance. Buses will be instructed to leave the Crandon Lot 3 parking area and park at Marine Stadium, which is approximately 2 miles back toward the direction of downtown Miami where they will park until the scheduled departure time of their group. Crandon Park is unable to accommodate catered and box lunch events at the Lot 2 bus terminal.

The FAQs

I want to purchase tickets to watch my favorite player play…when is he or she scheduled? The Miami Open is a single-elimination tennis tournament. Due to this fact, the draw for each day will not be announced until the night before around 7 pm EST and will be posted online at www.MiamiOpen.com. Other options would include checking local news outlets such as The Miami Herald newspaper. Depending on when you place your order, Stadium Court tickets may or may not be available. If the Stadium Court is sold out, grounds passes will be made available. Please note that a grounds pass does not provide access to watch matches taking place inside Stadium Court.
Do you offer seats in the shade or out of the sun? Because we are an outdoor event and have no roof on our Stadium Court, the sun will be a factor. The best option we can offer if sun is a factor is to provide you seats with the sun behind your back. These seats are located on the South Baseline (Gates F-G), Southwest Angle (Gates G-H), West Sideline (Gates H-A) and Northwest Angle (Gates A-B). Please note that seats purchased in these areas can be much higher up in terms of availability compared to other areas in the Stadium Court.

I would like to order tickets for today’s matches…how can I do that? We do not accept phone orders for same day sales…Tickets may be purchased online until 8:00am for Day Sessions and until 4:00pm for Evening Sessions. Otherwise tickets can be purchased in person at the Front Gate Box Office the day of.

I have tickets waiting for me at Will Call…where should I park to pick up the tickets? You should park in your assigned parking area first and then proceed to Will Call (located at the Main Gate entrance). If your order includes a parking pass, you may park your car in the 15-minute parking area at Lot 6 (North Gate entrance) and proceed to Will Call to pick up your tickets/parking pass. You will then need to park your vehicle in the assigned parking lot (typically Crandon Park Lot 2 or 3). Vehicles left in the 15-minute parking area longer than the allotted time will be towed at the owner’s expense. The General Parking area is located directly across the street from the Miami Seaquarium and is $12.00 per vehicle. Once parked, you will then board a shuttle and be taken to the site.

I would like to come to the site and purchase advance tickets during the tournament…where can I do this? All you have to do is proceed across the Rickenbacker Causeway and follow signs to Lot 6 (North Gate entrance), which is located before the Front Gate entrance. Once you find it, turn right into the complex and you will be directed by an attendant to the 15-minute on-site parking zone. Once you are parked, you will then proceed to the Front Gate Box Office where you can make your purchase.

The Activities

KIDS DAY
Kids Day presented by Lexus at the Miami Open will be held on Tuesday, Mar. 24 and includes a variety of activities both on and off the court. Tickets also grant access to all the action of the Day Session matches. Kids of all ages and skills sets are welcome, so bring along the entire family, friends and neighborhood kids! Kids Day kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with interactive tennis games. Put your speed to the test at the IMG Academy agility obstacle course and hone your skills on the USTA interactive court. Try out the Speed Serve and see how fast you can whip the ball! With lots of games and prizes, it’s best played with friends. From 10 a.m.-11 a.m. at the Grand Stand, kids can enjoy tennis demonstrations on the court. Select players will be on hand to answer questions and coach Nick Bolliterri will serve as MC. Here is your chance to learn from professional coaches, see players up close and watch them impress.
After trying your hand at tennis and learning from the best, why not catch some of the action? The day includes women’s qualifying and first round, plus the men’s qualifying matches.
