Picture Perfect

Key Biscayne Magazine is gearing up for our annual “Most Attractive People In Key Biscayne” cover story for our forthcoming “Battle of the Sexes” summer edition. The magazine will select five men and five women who are current Key Biscayne residents and are the envy of their neighbors both in terms of their looks and their inner beauty. We are currently accepting nominations via email for attractive Key residents who qualify for the feature. Current or former models and celebrities are excluded from the competition. To nominate yourself or someone else, please email a photo of the candidate with their name, occupation, contact information and the number of years they have resided on the island as well as any community or charitable organizations they are involved with. The top 10 finalists for each gender will be contacted by our editorial staff in order to narrow the search down to the winners who will be styled, photographed and interviewed for the feature. All nominations must be emailed to [email protected]. Due to high volume, only finalists will be contacted.

Glamorous Globetrot
Have you recently taken the trip of a lifetime? Had a travel adventure you’d like to share with our readers? It doesn’t matter if you took the trip 10 years ago or just returned to the airport 10 minutes ago, we want to hear your story. From camel-riding in Egypt to monkey-watching in Southeast Asia to kangaroo spotting in Australia, the wilder your story, the more interested we are to hear it. In 100 words or less describe what made the trip special, what the most memorable moment was and who went with you. Once we review all the submissions, we will select a choice few to be included in our main feature. Please make sure to include any relevant contact information so a reporter can elaborate on your submission if needed. To submit your story, email [email protected] with “Travel Tale” on the subject line.

I’m So Scared!
Q: I have an extreme fear of heights and of the outdoors. The irony is that I just relocated from a quaint home in New England to a hi-rise condo in Key Biscayne. I can’t bear to tell my husband that this new investment has my stomach turning. I keep the blinds shut all day to keep the sun and view out of sight. Most people would die to live here! What’s wrong with me?!
A: Everyone in life has had a fear at some point. The fact that you recognize you have a problem may be the beginning to your solution. You have to truly want to get better. Eventually your husband will notice. Open up to your spouse. Your fears may be brought about by a variety of causes including heredity, biology, family upbringing, recent stressors, personal beliefs and your ability to express feelings. A phobia is a persistent, unreasonable fear of a specific object, activity or situation that results in a desire to avoid that situation. In my professional experience, clients experience a relief when they come to feel that their life has a meaning, purpose and sense of direction. Until you discover something that gives your life a sense of purpose you may not be able to realize all of your potential, nor enjoy the magnificent view.

All names will be withheld to ensure the privacy of our readers.
