Marylin Dans, Founder & President of SilkPro USA, has a passion for providing the world with the most advanced technologies in health and beauty, while helping women everywhere live longer, healthier lives through awareness and education. At the age of 17, she discovered a hard lump in her breast, which would go on to impact her life forever. Fortunately, the mass was later removed and diagnosed as a benign breast tumor. Twenty years later, her sister-in-law was diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after turning 40. These experiences paved the way for the creation of SilkPro USA and its flagship product, Pink Luminous Breast — a breast health tool designed to put the power of early detection in the palm of your hand. This past February, in honor of World Cancer Day, she launched the Pink Luminous Advocacy Project, a philanthropic organization supporting breast cancer awareness efforts in places where access to education and medical services are not always prevalent; SilkProUSA.com; PinkLuminousBreast.com.
Nostalgia is in the air as we re-introduce you to a few Key Biscayne mothers we’ve profiled over the years to see what it was like raising their kids on the island now that they are all grown up.
When we first profiled Barbara & Tino Peña and their family 11 years ago in a wildly popular “Super Parents!” feature, their four children ranged in age from 10 months to 8 years old. Today, the parents are the wiser for it and their kids have grown up right before their very eyes.
