Portrait Ponder

I have a private art collection that nobody has ever seen. It’s not loaded with rare Picassos or Van Gogh sketches, but it’s just as valuable to me.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been amassing a collection of caricatures of myself. My collection has come from carnivals, art fairs and artists I’ve met around the world. Some portrayals have been more accurate than others, and I definitely have a few favorites, like the one pictured here…I love the little hair in quotation marks complementing my shiny dome. There’s another one that depicts me as the sun setting into the ocean. Me as a sun god? I think I paid double the asking price for that one. By far, the most impressive part of the collection is how incredibly vast the artists’ interpretations are. No two portraits have ever been the same. And that’s the way it should be. Because there are thousands of layers to each of us, and sometimes it takes an artist’s perspective to help us better understand how the world see us and who we have the potential to be.
