TIME WARP

When it comes to clothes, electronics and cars, it’s common knowledge that different generations have different needs and desires. Finally, the home building industry is catching on.

This year, the 14th Annual BUILDER Concept Home is celebrating the different between Gen X’ers, Gen Y’ers and Baby Boomers by creating 3 distinct homes specifically tailored to appeal to a specific generation. Set on an Orlando golf course cul-de-sac, these gorgeous homes were highlighted during the recent 2012 International Builders’ Show. Baby Boomers will love the one-story Gen B House, built specifically for those families whose younger members have “flown the nest.” Highlights include a master bedroom with easy access to the pool and spa with a large, luxurious master bath with double shower. There’s also a full suite for guests or visits from the kids. The Gen X House boasts a “hangout deck” for the kids and a multi-generational apartment perfect for an elderly parent or particularly independent teen or college student. Last, but certainly not least, the Gen Y House combines a smaller square footage with smart design and style. The outdoor covered lanai and pool area features a firepit for winter BBQs, while disappearing doors add flexibility to the home’s open-concept living area; BuilderConceptHome2012.com.
