Words by Hunter Arango | Lifestyle

Lighthouse Run

Early starts and a historic lighthouse set the scene at the 49th Annual Key Biscayne Lighthouse Run on Nov. 14. Both races start and finish near the base of the Cape Florida Lighthouse in Bill Baggs Cape Florida State Park. The 10K starts at 7:40 a.m. and the 5K run and walk follows at 7:50 a.m. Park entrance is free, with water stations and race clocks along the course. Runners get food, water, adult beverages, music and massages after the race. Registration is $40, online only; KBLHR.com.

Sunset Core

Evenings on the beach in Key Biscayne now come with a built-in workout plan. Sunset Stretch & Core sets up at Pavilion D-18 at Bill Baggs, where locals spread out as the sunset handles the lighting. Fitness coach Suzanne Barker leads the hour, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on select Thursdays through Nov. 19. Bring a yoga mat and water. Classes run rain or shine, with no refunds. Presented by Friends of Cape Florida as part of Wellness in the Park, it pairs core work and stretching with a view few gyms can match; FriendsCapeFlorida.org.

Volunteer tickets are $50. Proceeds support children’s educational institutions in the most economically vulnerable communities of Colombia, creating meaningful opportunities for children and families in need; BuildingTheFutureFoundation.org.

Generous Bazaar

Live music, gastronomy and a bazaar-style marketplace take over Historic Virginia Key Beach Park on Nov. 14 from 5 p.m.-1 a.m., when Rastrillo 305 returns as a charity boutique festival. Cultural festivities fill the day, and the crowd draws people of every age and nationality, all gathered under one celebration. Every dollar raised supports International Studies Foundation programs in Miami, with a focus on sports, education and positive values. The foundation is the philanthropic arm of CIS University, with more than 17 years of service creating educational opportunities for underprivileged students. Organized with ML Events, the day also works as a vibrant hub for community engagement and social awareness; Rastrillo305.org.
