For most of us, spring cleaning is just another chore to add to the dreaded to-do list. But every year, I see it as an opportunity to de-clutter. Each April, I go through my contacts, deleting old acquaintances, adding new friends and reaching out to people I haven’t spoken to in a while. I also make sure to set goals that will keep me busy through New Year’s. But my favorite part of welcoming in the spring is knowing that summer is right around the corner. Yes, it’s hot, yes the sporadic thunderstorms are annoying, but it’s the best time of the year to go out and experience something new, to walk a little slower, to dare to travel across oceans and continents to witness other cultures and places.
