Not just because I finally had a mask that was comfortable AND cool, but it was also a way to share a bit of laughter with everyone I passed by in public while going about my day. We keep hearing that “We are all in this together” and “This too shall pass” but what are we to do in the meantime? How can we go about our daily lives physically distancing while remaining socially and spiritually connected? One way is to lead with optimism and allow yourself to feel joy during the happy moments, during life’s little surprises and when there’s something to celebrate. Smile even when no one’s looking. Smile even when you’re wearing a face covering. One day, we will all be able to smile brighter than ever. Until then, let’s try to make the best of every day, of every encounter, or every experience. When it comes down to it, we will emerge from this wiser and more grateful for all of the blessings we sometimes find ourselves taking for granted. And that’s a silver lining we can all look forward to.
