Powerful and spirited, the horse has captivated the imagination of artists for centuries, with the horseshoe becoming a universal symbol of good luck. First-generation Ukranian-American Karina Brez has transformed the symbol into a delightful rainbow, with colored sapphires, diamonds and tsavorites set in a channel. On the back of each design is a trellis, a nod to the whimsical garden of jewels that embodies the aesthetic of her new retail location on Palm Beach’s tony Worth Avenue. “The collection is inspired by my daughter’s love of everything rainbows and unicorns,” says Brez. “It is meant to be fun and whimsical — to channel our inner child.” And magic of nostalgia is something the former Miss Florida USA naturally gravitates toward. In fact, her jewelry career began after fellow contestants were impressed by the designs she created for her pageant dresses. After completing the GIA Graduate Gemologist Program, she became an appraiser and started advocating for non-profits that introduce children to the healing power of horses, including her most recent cause, Dryfoos School of The Arts Foundation. In addition to the Unicorn Horseshoe Collection, she also created fine jewelry lines Huggable Hooves, Lucky Horseshoe and Horse LUV; KarinaBrez.com.

Shot at the Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Still Waters is an introduction to the women who build their businesses stitch by stitch, bead by bead, and to the women who wear them. Not because she was told to, but because she knows the difference.
