For 23 years, Pantone’s “Color of the Year” has influenced product development and purchasing decisions in multiple industries, including fashion, home furnishings and industrial design, as well as packaging and graphic design. To arrive at the selection each year, the Pantone Color Institute combs the world looking for new color influences in everyhting from the entertainment industry and films in production to interior design and fashion trends, popular travel destinations and new technologies. For the first time in its history, the winning color is a brand new hue: PANTONE 17-3938 a.k.a. Very Peri. “This annual selection reflects what is taking place in our global culture, expressing what people are looking for that color can hope to answer.” says Laurie Pressman, VP of the Pantone Color Institute. “As society continues to recognize color as a critical form of communication, the complexity of this new red violet infused blue hue highlights the expansive possibilities that lay before us.”; Pantone.com.
