Miami Film Lab, the homegrown organization dedicated to helping local filmmakers build sustainable careers has produced its debut short film, Miami Magic, and the city is already buzzing. Recently premiering during the Miami Film Festival, the film centers on Nora, a comedy writer who returns home to Miami after a messy professional chapter in New York. What begins as a reluctant homecoming becomes something far more resonant: A reckoning with identity, family and belonging. The creative team reads like a Miami dream with a Carbonell Award-winning director, an Emmy-nominated writer with a Ph.D., and screen legend Rubén Rabasa rounding out a multigenerational, multicultural cast and crew; MiamiFilmLab.org.
