Melissa White is a Key Rat through and through. She grew up on the island and got her first taste of philanthropy in elementary school. She spent her college years at Virginia Tech before returning to The Sunshine State to complete a Masters of Arts in International Administration from University of Miami. Upon graduation, she worked in various non-profit and higher education posts before making the move to the Key Biscayne Community Foundation. Finally, she had found her way back home. “As soon as I heard there was an opening for the position, I jumped at the opportunity to serve the community I love while making a positive impact both on and off the island,” she says. “Our community is made up of individuals who support a variety of charitable causes from children to animals, the environment to the arts, healthy living to healthy aging, education to community advocacy.” Today, she and her husband have a charitable fund with the Foundation and they’re looking forward to passing on a legacy of giving to the next generation; KeyBiscayneCommunityFoundation.org.
