Step in to the lobby of InterContinental Miami and you’ve entered a world of unbridled imagination as the digital LED screens light up with the work of MIU computer animation, VFX and motion graphics students. Their vibrant artistry can also be seen on a Times Square-like marquee screen as you drive up to the hotel, and eventually on the 19-story, 200-ft. digital canvas on the building’s exterior, known mostly for its dancing silhouettes. The innovative works were created as part of the InterContinental Miami’s Digital Arts Program. The new partnership with MIU spurred an arts-focused residency that resulted in a dedicated class added to the curriculum. The collaboration will continue to provide rotating student video content throughout the year. “Adding this student residency with MIU to our Digital Arts Program is an incredible opportunity for us to work with and support emerging artists in the community by giving them a platform to share their craft with not only locals, but with the millions of international visitors who travel to Miami annually,” says Robert Hill, InterContinental Miami’s GM; ICMiamiHotel.com/Arts-Program.
