While many corals died last summer, a unique urban coral reef off of Miami has survived and thrived. Miami-based Coral Morphologic, founded in 2007 by Marine Biologist Colin Foord and musician J.D. McKay, aims to chronicle Earth’s imperiled coral reefs and combat doomerism through the Coral City Camera, an underwater livestream that catches Miami’s marine stars in action — from sharks and tropical fish to stingrays and manatees. “The beauty of the livestream is that people get to build a personal connection with the marine life in our waters,” says Foord. “As Jacques Cousteau famously said ‘We only protect what we love.’”; CoralMorphologic.com.
