Brickell Urban Encounters, the 2nd Banco do Brasil Americas Cultural Series, features Yutaka Toyota, renowned for shaping steel into geometrically complex forms accented with vibrant patterns. The Japanese-Brazilian sculptor, who lives in São Paulo, is celebrated globally for his art in public spaces. Also on display are studies of the feminine form in bronze by Cuban-born Manuel Carbonell. You’re already familiar with his work, as the statue of the Tequesta Indian Archer who guards the Brickell Ave. Bridge is his design. Curated by Stella M. Holmes and Carolina Lucero, and shown for the first time together, Banco do Brasil Americas designed the exhibit to promote cultural diversity and express their gratitude to the community.
