Soccer fever is running rampant in the aftermath of the World Cup, and this is one bandwagon you’ll be happy to catch your kid a ride on. The mission of the KBSC Soccer Program is to provide a wholesome, well-organized environment in which to teach soccer skills, teamwork and good sportsmanship, as well as to contribute to the general health and social well-being of all participants. Currently, there are 3 KBSC programs. The Pee Wee Program is aimed at kids aged 3 & 4, and gives them a basic introduction to the game while focusing on fun and coordination. KBSC’s Intramural Program has teams for kids aged 5-17. Team sizes are limited to 10, so every kid gets a chance to participate fully and improve their tactical abilities. Finally, the most competitive kids can try out for KBSC’s Travel Program, where top players compete against teams from other clubs. For rates and other information about signing up, visit the official Key Biscayne Soccer page on Facebook or email [email protected].
End of the Road
Many people in unhappy marriages think their marriage is no different than anyone else’s. They rationalize and think others also argue, or that it’s normal for sex to become less interesting. In a 1980 report by Peterson & Zill, 9 areas were found to be the most important for couples to work at in order to have a good marriage: 1.) Money 2.) Parenting 3.) Sex 4.) Relationships with extended family and friends 5.) Religion 6.) Household responsibility and gender roles 7.) Substance abuse including alcohol & drugs 8.) How to spend leisure time 9.) Career & job-related issues. A healthy marriage may be so-so in 1-2 of these areas, but if there are serious issues in 3 or more, the marriage is defined as high-conflict. Getting help from a neutral professional in the form of couples’ therapy can help save a marriage, but both partners need to be committed to the process. After several sessions of coaching, homework assignments and real genuine sharing of their feelings, couples often begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel. My main goal is always to keep a family together, but if there’s truly no hope and a spouse wants to end the marriage, I highly recommend the Collaborate Approach, a family law process enabling parties who have decided to end their marriage to work with lawyers to reach an agreement that addresses their needs and those of their children.

“Always end the name of your child with a vowel, so that when you yell,
the name will carry.” — Bill Cosby
So Loud
The loudest animal on Earth is the blue whale, whose calls can reach up to 188 decibels and be heard for hundreds of miles underwater. The runner-up isn’t your mother-in-law — it’s the Howler Monkey.
Hunt King
Forget hounds — during the reign of Kublai Khan, the Chinese used lions on hunting expeditions. The big cats were trained to catch animals like wild bulls and bears, disabling them until the hunters arrived.
Giant Jelly
It’s not just science fiction — giant squids can weigh up to 2.5 tons and grow up to 55 feet long. Their eyes alone can be over a foot in diameter. Not bad for something without a backbone!
