“Golf is a beautiful game played outside among God’s creation. It’s very fulfilling to help people enjoy it and provide them with a wonderful, lasting experience.”

As Director of Golf for Golf Miami-Dade, Thomas Chipman is responsible for the county’s 5 golf facilities including Crandon Golf at Key Biscayne, where one of his most notable experiences on the job occurred. “Two years ago, President Obama was in town and wanted to play the best golf course in Miami,” he says, explaining that the President’s staff showed up early to scope out the course and ultimately asked for 20 tee times on the chosen day. “The President only has a foursome and only needs 1 tee time but because of National Security, he must have two holes open in front of him and two holes behind him open,” Chipman continues. “The day and time the President wanted to play Crandon was already booked by a company that was hosting a corporate retreat for their employees, so I had to say no to the President!.” Since he was a child, Chipman has been known for his fun and outgoing personality, friendly spirit and passion toward anything he does. His off-course alter ego is DJ 2 Hype. “I love music and sing and play percussion,” he says. “In high school and college, I owned a DJ business.” His future plans for Crandon Golf include building an elevated cart path on the holes located on Biscayne Bay that are presently affected by seasonal high tide. “I’m always focused on and dedicated to great customer service, with attention to every last detail and the goal of providing golfers with the best golf experience possible.”; GolfCrandon.com.
