Greater  good

The other evening my wife and I found ourselves in an impromptu wine tasting with an interesting group of a dozen or so movers-and-shakers from all over the city.

When someone asked us if we had a favorite wine, we said we did but we hadn’t tried it yet! About a year ago, we bid on a wine pull at the Kristi House Annual Gala, and just our luck, we scored a prized 1986 vintage ranked among the top 1% in the world. It’s safely stored in our wine cellar waiting for the perfect occasion. The conversation immediately shifted to upcoming galas, causes we support and volunteer activities. There we were, a dozen strangers all united by our love of wine and passion for giving back. And that’s what Miami is all about. Year after year, we break records for philanthropy — whether monetarily or through acts of service. With galas and fundraisers galore all year long, there’s no shortage of ways to get involved. We all enjoy a reason to dress up, catch up with old (and new!) friends and literally change people’s lives in the process. Whenever we meet someone new in town, we make it a point to connect them with local non-profits and groups that will take their Miami experience beyond the great restaurants, neon nightlife and days spent lazing on the beach or by the pool. Let’s continue to unite for the greater good and get out there and make a difference.
