If there’s one thing that sets Key Biscayne apart from anywhere else in the world it’s the unique sense of home and community the island exudes to both residents and visitors alike. Though tastes and budgets vary, most homeowners on the Key value the perceptions their neighbors have of their homes — both inside and out. Some families decide to do their own decorating and furniture shopping while others opt for professional help to get the aesthetics of their house in order. Whatever route you decide to take, keep this in mind: What is the first — and last — impression you want your guests to have of your home? Once you have the answer, look around your house and decide if you’ve successfully achieved it. More often than not, there’s plenty of room for improvement. And that’s OK. But it might be a good idea to get an expert opinion instead of immediately going at it in DYI-mode. After all, it’s always better to hear ways to improve your home from a professional than through the grapevine!
