I remember so many of my friends spending weeks planning out their first day of school outfit, pleading with their parents to get them that perfect shirt, or sneakers or backpack; partly because they wanted to give a great first impression, but mostly because they knew that obligatory first day of school photo would live on for eternity (and this was way before social media made its debut!). For most of us, these first days of school were our earliest fashion memories, and the first experiences we had curating our own personal style. Imagine how colorful the world would be if we all dressed every day like it’s the first day of school. I encourage you to think about this the next time you look through your closet and think “I have nothing to wear!” — sometimes the best accessory we can have is our imagination.
