Propelled by a gas-fueled engine as well as an electric motor, the hybrid Mercedes-AMG S63 is a luxury sedan that seems to identify more as a sports car. A 603 hp twin-turbo V8 paired with a 188 hp electric motor allows this not-small car to go from 0 to 60 in 2.8 seconds, making it easy to embarrass Corvettes at stop lights all day long. A 9-speed, dual-clutch automatic transmission sends the power to all 4 wheels; that and rear-axle steering gives the S63 the ability to swivel around curves like a petite ballerina. It can be operated on electric-only power, but the range is limited to 17 miles, making it a bit less than practical. The AMG badge is the first hint the interior will be as posh as a private jet. The Dolby Atmos sound system provides a 360-degree audio experience, while the 12.3” digital instrument panel and 12.8” touchscreen keeps the driver informed passengers entertained. The forward portion of the cockpit is designed to ensure comfort, no matter how long the drive, while headrest pillows for rear seat passengers give the S63 the decadent feel of a limo; Mercedes-AMG.com.
