Never in my wildest dreams could I ever imagine that our annual Mother’s Day cover would become such a hit when we debuted our first one last year. From the moment the cover hit the streets, we were bombarded with nominations from husbands, children, friends, family and neighbors excited to nominate all the moms in their lives to be on our next cover. Narrowing down all the great moms on Key Biscayne to just 5 every year is a daunting task, but one that’s well worth the effort. This year, we scoured our friends on Facebook to find the perfect mix of moms to honor with our “Moms of the Year” feature. When we contacted the finalists, all were overjoyed, one was brought to tears, a few couldn’t believe it and one even hung up the phone on us thinking it was a joke. (We originally contacted a couple of the finalists on April Fool’s Day, but decided to congratulate the rest of them on Apr. 2 to avoid any more hang-ups…literally!). Once all the mothers were selected (and informed) we planned a glamorous shoot for them at Grand Bay Club in Key Biscayne. We had an unforgettable day with all the moms, their kids and the husbands and nannies who were able to tag along throughout the day. Although we’ve already selected one mom to be featured on next year’s cover — (we had to, she flagged us down on the beach while we were shooting and told us her children were too precious to not be featured on our pages next year) — we are eagerly awaiting nominations for the remaining spots. Starting today, we’re accepting ALL nominations for ALL of next year’s cover stories through Facebook (including our “Most Beautiful People” cover which includes 5 men and 5 women annually). So if you’re not our friend yet, jump aboard. Nothing makes us prouder than showcasing all the wonderful people who make this community tick on a daily basis! And you are definitely one of them!
