On The Map

By the time you read this, I will be exploring the land of my cultural roots, Spain, on a culinary tour that will begin in Madrid and weave through Zaragoza and Zarautz in between longer stops in San Sebastian, Bilbao and La Rioja.

It’s a trip many years in the making and one that marks the perfect start to summer. Traveling isn’t just about getting another passport stamp or adding to the camera roll, it’s about gaining new perspectives, broadening horizons and learning that there’s much more to life than our regularly scheduled programming. In our infinitely connected universe, it’s always a good time to travel. For me, being out of my comfort zone opens up my senses to a literal world of possibilities. A few years ago, I came across a quote from Saint Augustine that said “The world is a book, and those who do not travel read only one page.” That idea has stuck with me ever since and has inspired me to continue to make traveling a priority. Whether internationally, domestically or right in the Sunshine State, there’s no shortage of interesting people to meet, menus to explore and sights to behold in our great, big world. Just point to the map and go!
