Pencil It In

In an ideal world, everyone would prioritize family time above anything else. But as we all know, work commitments, deadlines and the endless stream of errands and chores we have to tackle each day tends to eat away at quality time with those we love.

But just because that’s the way it’s always been doesn’t mean it has to stay like that. When you’re done reading this, go grab your calendar and start reclaiming your day, your week, your month, your year and the rest of your life. Maybe you need to work smarter, not harder; maybe you should delegate more at work and home; maybe you just need to learn to say “no” to commitments that take you away from your family. For some, shifting priorities takes a while to get used to; for others, it becomes second nature. The most important thing to keep in mind is this: If this was your last day on Earth, what would your final calendar entry be? If you don’t like the answer, do something about it — and always remember, the most powerful tool we have in our journey toward happiness is the ability to change.
