President’s Letter

I’m thrilled to have the honor and pleasure of being named President of Key Biscayne Magazine and our soon-to-launch Brickell Magazine. When Jorge Arauz, a long-time friend and colleague of mine from previous publications, called me and told me about this wonderful magazine almost a year ago, I was instantly intrigued. I immediately sensed a connection with it, even before I joined the team. Hence, after half a decade of publishing a yachting-themed luxury magazine entitled International Yachtsman, I’m happy to announce that I’m now back “at home” — both figuratively and literally.
After relocating from Atlanta to gorgeous Miami almost seven years ago, I quickly realized that this city was now home for me. Prior to living here, and because I was raised as a U.S. Army “brat,” I often found myself anxious to relocate to a new and exciting place every few years. Once I was planted here, however, and after meeting and marrying my “born-and-raised-here” husband, that yearning for a new environment quickly changed! There is now nowhere else I’d rather call home than Miami. I love everything about this city, and Key Biscayne is an extension of that fondness. There’s something very special that happens once one crosses “the bridge.” No matter how many times I cross, I still feel like I’m approaching an oasis — the air becomes cleaner, the brush becomes greener and the pace becomes slower. What a treasure!
We at Key Biscayne Magazine promise to continue providing you with the best, most quality reading material that your high standards demand. Because of your enthusiasm and because of the rapid growth of businesses in the downtown area, the publishers have decided to launch Brickell Magazine this fall. We are so excited about this endeavor! Expect a similar format with more of a business theme and feel…after all, Brickell is now considered “The Wall Street of the South.”
I’m so humbled by the support and warm welcome that I’ve received since coming onboard. Please, if you have suggestions or feedback, I’d love to hear them. This is your magazine. I look forward to seeing you in person. In the meantime, I’m thoroughly enjoying seeing your smiling faces among these pages.

With “warm sunshine” regards,

Jessica W. Cristobal
