Founded in 1865, Zenith has a strong reputation for producing highly-accurate chronograph movements, including the El Primero 9004, the world’s fastest automatic chronograph; cutouts in the dial and the transparent caseback provide a view of the movement in action. This movement is a perfect choice for the DEFT Extreme “Island X Pris” chronograph, a watch celebrating racing, and particularly so when the strap is crafted from recycled Continental CrossContact racing tires used in the 2021 Extreme E Championship season. To complete the high-performance design, carbon fiber is used to craft the case, the crown and the chronograph pushers. Micro-blasted titanium is used for the dodecagonal bezel and the pusher protectors. This is a serious piece of time-keeping equipment; the central subdial’s hand travels in 1/100th increments of a second, bracketed by a 30-minute counter and a 60-second counter, while a power reserve indicator resides at the 12 o’clock position.
