The homage begins with a spectacular fountain pen in a limited-edition of just 8 examples. Inspired by a pine cone he collected during an ascent of the then-active Vesuvius volcano, the 18K gold barrel features inlays of ebony wood, with white and pink mother-of-pearl accents. His “Theory of Colours” is represented by a variety of lacquer inlays, gold rings, and rock crystals. At the other end of the price spectrum is an eminently practical ballpoint pen. Inspired by the novel The Sorrows of Young Werther, the barrel has a blue finish inspired by the author’s home’s wallpaper, with a gold coated clip featuring a leaves accent. The platinum-coated cap resembles a chemist’s glass jar, an ode to his scientific accomplishments. A portion of the proceeds will be donated by Montblanc for preservation of the Juno bust in the Geothe House; Montblanc.com.
