Surgical Excellence

T.J. Giuffrida M.D., loves his job, particularly the relationships he forms with his patients, and the great satisfaction he receives when he’s able to tell a patient that he has cured them of their skin cancer.

“Mohs Micrographic Surgery is the most effective and advanced treatment for skin cancer today, and I’m one of the best trained surgeons performing this procedure.”

To be a Board-Certified Mohs Surgeon, the motor skills and attention to detail of T.J. Giuffrida, M.D., must be impeccable — traits he developed in early childhood. “These are key assets now because in Mohs surgery I act as surgeon, pathologist and reconstructive surgeon,” he says. “I need to be meticulous in identifying the cancer cells under the microscope and in putting sutures to get the best cosmetic results with reconstruction.” What makes him stand out even further is that in addition to being a stellar surgeon, Dr. Giuffrida is a people person. “My office is not like a typical doctor’s office,” he says. “I pay special attention to seeing patients on time and spend a lot of time with them. I don’t schedule a high number of patients as other offices do. My entire office exerts a lot of effort making sure each patient has a good experience.” He is a devoted family man as well. “One of my long-time patients allowed my teen daughters to observe his procedure,” he says. “During the surgery, we looked over at my daughters, and one of them was leaning against the wall passed out. I had to run over and grab her before she fell. My patient still laughs about this every time I see him.” As if that wasn’t enough, this Renaissance Man enjoys wing foiling, kite boarding, paddle boarding, boating, catching stone crabs (in his own traps!) and is a huge Florida Gators fan; MiamiDermCenter.com
