A glimpse into Key Biscayne’s dynamic social scene

Mercy Hospital held a “Pretty In Pink” cocktail party at The Key Biscayne Yacht Club honoring women’s health.

The Key Biscayne Chamber Of Commerce, Principals’ Coalition For The Good Of The Children and Key Biscayne Community Foundation presented the “Good Neighbor Award” honoring Key Biscayne students and the “Giving Tree Award” honoring Key Biscayne teachers.

Key Biscayne Community Foundation celebrated its 10th Anniversary with The Aqua Party at The Fairways On The Key with proceeds benefiting community charitable work.

The Key Biscayne Scientist Project was recently introduced in conjunction with Key Biscayne Community Foundation, Knight Foundation and UM’s RSMAS with the goal of helping Key Biscayne stay an island paradise.

A grand night was had by all when the Key Biscayne Community Foundation hosed “Pieces from Paradise,” a celebration of the island’s artist via a curated exhibition, sale and fundraiser. Proceeds from the event, which took place at a home on 501 Harbor Drive donated by eRealty and Zubillaga Design, went toward furthering the organization’s work with Key Biscayne non-profits and establishing future community-wide arts events. Long-time Key Biscayne residents Marianne and Carlos Coto organized the 3rd annual Cabana Crawl at Oceacn Club to benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Having planned the event to coincide with the full-moon, the “crawlers” went from cabana to cabana, where they were greeted with an assortment of food, libations and music. The entertainment at the Coto’s cabana was provided by Don Pan owners Edgar and Betty and by a saxophonist named German. Other hosts dressed their cabanas in a variety of U.S. themes, such as “Mini Fenway Park,” “Boston Seafood Market,” and “Mardi Gras,” to name a few. Others added international flair to the Crawl by offering treats from their country of origin, including Peru, Spain, Mexico, Cuba, Colombia, El Salvador, France, Italy, India and the Greek Isles.
