The Mercedes-Benz SL was introduced in 1955, and has since become the semi-official car of the rich and famous. The new Mercedes-Benz AMG SL is the most advanced and evolved roadster ever to wear the AMG badge. Powered by a biturbo, 469-hp V8 that uses technology developed for Mercedes’ F1 Racing Program, and linked to AMG’s 9-speed automatic transmission, the SL 55 version goes from 0 to 60 in a scant 3.8 seconds, rivaling Porsche 911 performance, with massive 6-piston, 15.4” brakes to keep things under control.
