Each winter, the Miami Design District invites creative artists to reimagine the environment of the neighborhood through a public art installation. Woven through the luxury shopping mecca’s main passageways, the installation engages the native trees, architecture and walkways to create a unique experience for visitors. This year’s winner, Tomorrow Land, was created by Studio Proba and Enjoy The Weather with curation by Anava Projects. With both physical and virtual elements, the project transforms the Miami Design District into an interactive playground through a series of joyfully designed sculptures, seating and ornamentation. A dedicated app built around AR technology lets users “collect” and digitally customize shapes, even placing their own custom totems throughout the neighborhood — and beyond — for others to discover and interact with.
